123 Get Scrappy Challenge #4

Just a quick post today to enter the latest challenge at 123 Get Scrappy. This month from the challenge board I chose the line to use in my layout a mask, birds, and the word family. I always think these challenges are far more challenging than doing layouts, which is great as it gets the juices flowing.

I love this photo of my 3 with my best friends 3 boys. How cool is it that you really are all like family as I feel Jacqui is like a sister to me.

I used my Prima Camera mask with a co-ordinating paint color to tint the modeling paste and create a textured effect, along with my silhouette cut title and the little wood veneer birds to complete the challenge.

Scrap Friends Challenge #19

I seem to always go over to the Scrapfriends Blog when searching for ideas and inspiration and enjoyed taking part in their recent sketch challenge. I'm not sure why but I've been a lot more confident to use Pink in layouts of Louie. Not saying that you are more girlie than your brothers darling because you are boisterous beyond belief! But maybe its just becoming a bit cooler…either than or I'm sick to death with scrapping "for the boys". The 'Hello Again' range from Carta Bella was a perfect choice for this gender dilemma. A lot of blue, and a sprinkle of pink…like this household really!

A very hungry caterpillars party!

Where have these 2 years gone? 2 years filled with love and laughter with having Louie in our lives. I would have a dozen others on the promise that they all would be like this wee guy. Louie has enriched not only mine and Matthews lives, but James and Jesse absolutely adore him, showing him such love and empathy.

So to celebrate this coming of age for Louie, a party was definitely in order! Of course! And I had seen so many wonderful ideas on the fabulous Pinterest for the Hungry Caterpillar theme that I simply couldn't resist! Last year the layered rainbow cake was a hit, so not to be outdone by myself, I chose a polka dot cake this year, it was so cool.

The food theme was based around the items that the caterpillar gets through in the book though we did have a bit of a road block when after trying 4 supermarkets Matt came home without the all important watermelon! He even had the owner of Gordons Groceror off to the buyers market to track one down! Bless! The 15 little hungry caterpillars (i.e. party goers) didn't seem to notice.

So another great year, and another great party. Im looking forward to planning the next one for you darling….

A sketchy challenge

Having 3 boys sometimes can prove difficult as you end up with the same photo for each of the boys albums, thats scrapping one photo, three times, three different ways! Phew! This is where sketches come in handy when the mojo is waning at the 2nd layout! Thanks to Scrapfriends, they came to my rescue with this great sketch that I could use up the smaller photos I had printed.

And remind me next time to co-ordinate the boys outfits a little more, I mean for crying out load, the look like Josephs Technicolour Dream Coat!

So here is the sketch...

And here is my take…

123 Get Scrappy Challenge Board

Hi guys, I cannot believe that another month has come around already and I'm doing another challenge at 123 Get Scrappy. This time the recipe I chose was Stitching, Colour Orange, and 3 or more Patterned Papers. I love the colors aqua and orange together so I thought that would work great with the photo of James I had at swimming lessons. I'm big on white space at the moment but I wanted to add another dimension to the white to represent the water of the pool... then SPLASH! I found this awesome splash image on my silhouette that I cut in vellum to give that dimension that I was after. Worked really well!

Getting scrappy

Hi guys. I'm sure you are all aware of the magic of modeling paste and how it can add such a gorgeous dimension to your layout without taking over. Well I love it! My problem is that I don't have a lot of masks to use so I'm making my own on the Silhouette, which is great as it means I can use a variety of different designs I have in my Silhouette library.

For the latest challenge at 123 Get Scrappy, I chose the row of Tree/Rhinestones/Washi. It was a great chance to try out my woodgrain design (hence the tree theme) from the Silhouette. I also do have a stash of the gorgeous new Washi from the MME Chalk Studio collection which I've been procrastinating about too, so this Challenge kicked me into gear for that too.

This is a special photo, my gorgeous James with his Grandad, my Dad, who we love to bits. The quote seemed to fit just so well.

Unfortunately the photos probably don't give the woodgrain design justice, but I hope you like...

Retreat time again...

I have just come back from the Scrappin Patch Retreat at Glentui over the weekend and I'm still in Scrapbooking heaven. 2 days of uninterrupted scrapbooking. I missed my children, I did, but there is something to be said for surrounding yourself for a time with women who all have that common goal...to churn out as many layouts as they can. It was fabulous. And it was a great chance to give my 12x12's a bit more attention. So with 16 achieved, here are my results, not a bad weekend's effort really..

On a bit of a roll...

Yes, yes I am. The only problem with being on a layout roll is that I feel that I'm neglecting my Project Life though I am only a week behind, so no major.

This week I took part in ScrapFriends latest sketch challenge. It was great inspiration to use my Silhouette to cut the chevron arrows but to fold them in a more dimensional effect, I really liked it.

so here is my take...

Thanks for looking, leave some love.

Sketch 356

I recently came a across a great site for Challenges, Scrapbook Challenges, and loaded my first one with them today. I can't believe how grown up Louie looks in this photo, it scares me! In a few months we will be celebrating his 2nd birthday, with relief (as I survived), and sadness (no more babies for me), birthdays can have that effect on me.

Looking at this photo, it fills my heart that Louie has got 2 sets of wonderful Grandparents that absolutely adore him. And the feeling is totally mutual. I remember that feeling as a child, an overwhelming sense of security and love in the presence of my Grandparents. They loved me honestly and openly, isn't that a wonderful thing! There truly is no love like a grandparents.....

A busy wee Bee

Well I have been, very busy! Not only have I survived the school holidays, wiped a lot of snotty noses, collected several lice eggs, and established Media Free Mondays (...YES!) much to J1 and J2's disgust, I have also scrapped. A lot. Maybe it is what has got me through those 2 weeks of torture that they call School Holidays. A friend of mine recently said they weren't long enough for her, she would've preferred another week or two. I stared at her blankly. Is she kidding, or am I such a bad mum that I welcomed Banks Avenue, complete with pot holes, back with eagerness. Anyhow, peace has somewhat been restored.

And thanks to my Silhouette my scrapbooking sanity has also been restored. I had a box labelled 'Work in Progress'. In other words, 'I can't stand to look at this page', box. I grudgingly pulled out the contents and committed myself to finishing off these lonely souls. So I did it, and I must say am quietly stoked with this achievement!

Southern Girls Challenge #74

Well there really isn't anything like a challenge to stop the procrastination, and to get a layout finished. I've been staring at this photo of James and Finn for a very very long time, I mean in the photo James is 5, the boy is now 9, now thats the definition of procrastination! But some photos just do that to you don't they? Whether its an photo that is just too precious you are worried you wont to it justice, or a photo too hideous to scrap though it marks an important event. So my resolution, find a challenge that suits the photo...and DO IT! Thanks girls from Southern Girls Challenge, you help me get off my ass with this one!

Project Life Creativity

I really cannot express how thrilled I am with the products that Im getting in for the Paperdoll Company. Everything just seems to lend itself so well to my Project Life and is complementing my Becky Higgins kits really well.

For my week 24/30 June I used some of my products Pretty Little Studio 6x4 Journalling cards, an Evalicious Weekday Banner Flair, Evalicious Snipsnip Tags, and Days of the Week Tape, which went well with my Jade Project Life Kit.

Blood pressure of an angel

Thats right, blood pressure of an angel! I love my doctor, I can honestly say I look forward to seeing her. We have a bond. She takes the mickey out of me. I laugh. Its great! So today I had a check up to be sure everything was tickety boo after Mum's recent health concerns. Lets face it we are getting to "that age" people. For goodness sake it took me 2 days to get over a hangover a few weeks back. Near 40 Belinda!!! Not near 20 (*sigh). So apparently my heart sounds great, I have the blood pressure of an angel, and my body mass index is right on also (celebrated that one with a few ginger nuts when I got home), so now just off for the bloods and a big thumbs up from Doctor Joce!

Blood pressure is a funny one though. Don't we all sit there and relax like crazy when they squeeze the life out of our biceps. Calm now, easy does it, is our inner chant. And to be honest mine sometimes feels like its going through the roof! Bless those 3 little gremlins that suck the good energy from me between the hours of 6-8:30 am only to return again at 3pm for another few hours of health damaging antics. I can't believe I actually enjoy it, my god I'd better get back to the Doctor, I'm obviously sick!

Morning! Or is it still night?

I should be still looking at the inside of my eyelids, but I have a 19 month old that insisted that he was more important than sleep. Really Louie? 5:30? I suppose I've got no excuse now for this household to run smoothly and on time this morning now. I wonder how many cups of Moccona I'm going to get through before 12pm?

This is however an excellent time to think about my products on Facebook, new Evalicious Flair arrived this week. Isn't Flair awesome! So heres some pics of what's on offer...

Have a great day everyone, hopefully with a few more hours sleep than yours truly!
